You Just Have to Improve YOU!
Posted by admin in Brian's Blog, Time Management, Tip Of The Week
I was being interviewed yesterday by Doren Aldana regarding time management. As many of you know, I have a great time management course that you can get at the store on www.askbrianpeart.com . As we were going along the process of questions and answers, I could get a sense of respect starting to build among the listeners as they realized how high they could take time management and how much they still needed to improve. What I did not have a chance to say, but I am saying it now, is DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE. So often, people use comparisons as an excuse to give up. I see it all the time, they may say, “well he is more disciplined” or “she has an assistant which I just can not afford” or my favorite, “well they just have more time then me since I have ____fill in the blank”. That last one is classic, last time I checked, we all have 24 hours.
All of those are excuses to quit and they are indicative of a culture that idolizes individuals yet trends toward mediocrity. The only person you need to do better than is YOU. When I go out and golf, I am trying to improve on my last game. It does not matter if John or Sally seems like they get more done, you just have to work on improving yourself this week. If you improve this week, even a little, then again next week and again the week after, soon you will be building momentum and you are on your way.
No one who is on top of their game got their overnight. That is the great lie of this age-everything takes time. We need to relax, focus on just improving ourselves a little each day and keep moving forward. Before you know it, success will be all around you!

p.s. Over the next week, I will be answering time management questions that we did not get a chance to go over in that interview. Look for those tips right here! I think you will be blessed by them.
